Not back To Running Just yet

I know I said I was going to start the running thing back again today, but I did not. So sue me. No don't! I don't have anything you'd want, trust me on that.

You might be wondering just what I did do today. A whole lotta nuthin'. And I L-I-K-E-D it. I lay by the pool, smelling like coconuts. Basking in the fall sun. We can do that here in Florida. If someone had told me 6 years ago I'd be laying by the pool, sweating on October 19, 2008, I would have LAUGHED in their face! HaHaHa! But alas. It's true. I'm here lovin' every minute of it. Oh, Loverboy sang that song. Good tune, but I digress from the true topic of my post. Which is.....no running today.

My knee still kinda felt achy, I didn't want to even try it out if it was still achy. I used my better judgement for once. Besides, I've been running at 100 MPH since June and today was my day to hang. So I hung.

Today is also the day to rejoice in the Boston Red Sox making it to game 7. Neener neener neener to you Devil Rays. Honestly, I can't stand watching baseball. I might pop in here and there to see how they're doing but I'd fall asleep by the 3rd pitch if I tried to watch the game. Call me a fair-weather lover. Of baseball anyway.

Back to the tanning. Maybe grab a brewdawg. I got some Bud Select. It's non-carb, or low-carb...but I don't care about that. I just think the black can with the red princess tiara on the front is COOL. Besides, the garlic bagel crisps have so many carbs in them, a normal beer wouldn't even make a difference. Garlic bagel crisps. Mmmmmm....yummy. Anybody wanna kiss????

OH!! PS!! I weighed myself today and I haven't gained a pound! Will wonders never cease?? I will have my husband's famous cheeseburger tonight with relish! Not the pickle kinda relish, the "enjoying this" kinda relish. I don't put relish on my cheeseburger, that would be gross.

Thanks for visiting my blog, and setting me straight on just how easy two kids must be when compared to 4!!! You find time to run? Where! Are the days 36 hours long in FLA or something?

Also, I am so jealous of you, tanning by the f'n pool! In our neck of the woods I am considering firing my the furnace, and started a fire in the fireplace last night to keep warm.

All the best, and hope your knee feels better soon! If you read through my blog you will notice that I have trouble listening to my body as well, though I am slowly (very slowly) getting wiser with each injury.

Cheers!

Good on ya, Kim. Listen to your body. I got into running for health reasons. It kinda defeats the purpose if you let exercise make your health worse.

But I'm starting to understand how that happens. You get all, "Stupid body! Always keeping m from running when I want to run! Leave you out on the curb with the recyclables wunna these daze ..."

But then where'd you be? Ya need that carcase to run with!

So take care of it.

That of course includes drinking beer. That's just a given.

Hi GQ...
How were your doppleganger beers?? My Bud Select by the pool were fab. I kinda burnt my face a little.

I have to admit, if I didn't have a marathon in 5 weeks I'd probably not be babying my knee so much. This will be my 2nd marathon so I really want to do well. Hoping to qualify for Boston by 2010. IT band injuries can't play a part in THAT! I wonder what the average number of marathons it takes to run before people qualify?

They were good, my beers were. I was afraid they might kick my @$$ a bit, being somewhat stronger than a regular beer, but I slowed way down, switched to some weaker beers I had in my beer cellar and stopped quaffing well before bedtime. Then I hydrated.

Long-distance drinking is a lot like long-distance running. You gotta PLAN!

Good luck with your up-coming marathon! I did a 6.6 mile run this morning that felt just GREAT! Makes me think a half-marathon may be in my future by the Spring.

While you are sitting by the pool under the warm sun, I've been scraping frost off my windshield every morning with every puff of my visible breathe and asking myself why I live here.
